Re: NYU Law Class of 2011
Cheaper, money is a big issue for me and at this point I'm beyond used to small dorms so I figure mayb I can tough it out for one more year and they didn't seem THAT much bigger. When I visited the room in Mercer during ASD the residents of the room mentioned that theirs was a bit bigger and actually renovated recently and the D'Ag room I saw wasn't that much smaller, just not as spiffy, and was supposedly common for a two bedroom so I figure either is ok but if I can save $200+ a month I'll go with D'Ag

For those of you who did the online payment deposit, have your credit cards been charged yet? It's been a couple days and mine hasn't yet, just wondering if maybe something went wrong.

Did anyone get a chance to check out the gym/fitness center on their visit? It wasn't part of the tour I was on.

I didn't get to but I remember my tour guide mentioning that there was like a bally's or something right next to Mercer which is where she goes becuz NYU's gym isn't open early enough for her schedule and that a lot of students seem to use it

The gym is on Mercer St. near the Mercer dorm, it's big, but it's crowded and kind of dated. The newer gym is in the Palladium (undergrad/MBA dorm) on 14th St. b/w 4th and 3rd. Very nice, very new, but small and also crowded. Both gyms have pools. Coles has an outdoor track on the roof and tennis courts, but last I checked only one court was open due to fear of the roof collapsing.

dude ... mercer is like a block away ... literally 2 mins.Chadbertwick wrote:I'm already decided on NYU! Aleph, it looks like I'll be living in either D'agostino or Mercer. Even though I hear the spaces are slightly nicer in Mercer, I think I like the closeness to the law school of D'agostino more.

Was Mercer that much nicer for the price? I only saw D'Ag and refuse to live in a closet. Didn't see Mercer because I heard it was priced up to $2,900!! I'm assuming that's for a single but figured it would be a lot more expensive than finding a place on craig's list or the like. I was able to find a palace for $1,725 a month on Lispenard and Canal for this past summer. If I can find the same deal in the Village as I did in TriBeCa, I'll gladly pay the extra few dollars.

It's supposed to take 10 days. I wouldn't be surprised if it is a little more since they are probably very busy right now.stavand wrote:When Have people been getting their NYU Deposit processing confirmations. Meaning the one that lets you know you can sign up for your NYU home account.

You can change your email address to just your name if you like:
NYUHome
Email Addresses & Aliases
The format of your official NYU email address is YourNetID@nyu.edu (e.g., aqe123@nyu.edu), but you may also set up a personal email address of your own choosing through NYUHome. Instructions for configuring this personal address are available at http://www.nyu.edu/its/email/address/.
Email aliases are also available for NYU departments. A departmental alias is set up in the format: school or division abbreviation.department name@nyu.edu (e.g., its.clientservices@nyu.edu). The departmental alias points mail sent to the alias an individual's email address or to those of a group of individuals. It can also send mail to a NYU Forum. For guidelines and to request a departmental alias, follow the instructions in the NYU Web Guide.

No comments on Mercer's interior? Space, furnishings provided, bed size?

Mercer rooms are substantially bigger. The building is further from the law school (about four blocks rather than right behind it). The entire building seems to be a bit larger as well. All rooms have desks, twin beds, dressers, etc. The family housing rooms have full beds I believe. I liked Mercer a lot more than D'Ag.
