Damn, are you going for Chase or Citi instead?
By the way, we are talking about GradPLUS loans here, right? All this talk makes me super confused...

Both Stafford and GradPLUS need to be applied for separately. You'll most likely use the same lender but who knows.

Damn you, stavand. I was hoping to find something, as well. No such luck. I'm too picky, I think.

For those of you apartment hunting in NYC. . . how do you prove your income to landlords? I've read that Manhattan landlords can be pretty demanding in terms of tax return forms, pay stubs, and the like. How would I prove my income in loans (which I won't be getting until late August)? I'm going to be looking for a place in Brooklyn-- are the landlord screening standards any lower there?
Feeling really clueless on this. . . any help is appreciated. Thanks!

OK, seriously, does no one care that Judge Judy went to NYU? B/c I would have been ecstatic if she had gone to UT. I guess I'm just a little frustrated.

Talulah - if you have a guarantor, they can sign off on the lease for you, and then you can use whatever funds you have (from loans or savings, whatever) to pay the rent. OR, some landlords might be amenable to students and allow you pay for the whole year up front. OR, if you live with a roommate, you can have them / a guarantor from their side take care of the lease and you work out the payments with them.
In general, though, a landlord will need someone to guarantee the lease for you since you are a student. PM me if you have any more specifics.

PSA: If you've previously applied for loans and think you're getting incentives that were in effect prior to July 1st, you are mistaken. NYU hasn't confirmed any enrollment to lenders so they haven't qualified us.
Very frustrated when I found this out.

So you're saying its a good thing I've been lazy and haven't applied yet?VaultBound wrote:PSA: If you've previously applied for loans and think you're getting incentives that were in effect prior to July 1st, you are mistaken. No effect for being lazy. They are processing them now but if you applied previously, I would re-evaluate your lender's incentive package.

Re: NYU Law Class of 2011
Once again:
The ONLY bank offering a competitive incentives package for the 2008 school year is Citibank. It is the only option that goes beyond a .25% reduction with auto-debit (for both stafford and gradplus).
Here is the citibank link (Scroll down for gradplus info): https://www.studentloan.com/findstudent ... udents.htm
Has anyone else found another competitive lender??? Is Citibank the best offer???

Anyone know what entrance counseling is about? I tried looking i up on the Mapping Your Future site that you're directed to from HESC but got nowhere finding NYU.

I second-chaired an old homicide case a couple years ago... and one of our witnesses was a recovered crack addict who said her kids were taken away from her by Judge Judy back in the '80s when she was on Family Court.RATRATRAT wrote:Seriously? Re: NYU Law Class of 2011
If anyone's looking to buy some furniture, PM me -- my boyfriend and I just bought some new furniture and I'm looking to unload some of the old stuff.
Things I'm selling:
- Shaker style nine-drawer dresser w/ matching tri-fold mirror (birch veneer, dark finish)
- Smaller antique dresser
- Antique hutch, painted pastel green
- Black rolling office chair w/ mesh back
It's all quite nice, I mean we're not selling the stuff because it's crappy or beat up or anything. I'll post prices and photos later.

Got a place. Had a hard time finding the right spot. It looks like it will be the upper west side for me. I am one block from central park and right near the b,c line which will drop me at w 4th. pretty stoked to be moving to the city in 3wks.
so is the consensus Citibank?
