Top Law Schools

I accepted the Fletcher's scholarship from Wake Forest today. I will be withdrawing from UNC, W&L, Duke, Vanderbilt, and UVA (acceptances), and Harvard, UofC, NYU, Cornell, and Columbia (pending apps). Good luck to everyone as you make your decisions (its tough), and I hope you all end up where you want to be.

what's the rush? go ahead and withdraw from your accepted schools but why not wait to see what becomes of your pending applications?

Hope you enjoy it. Went to WF for undergrad and it is very difficult turning them down for law school.

I'm required to withdraw. It is one of the stipulations that goes with the scholarship. (I'll never know if I would have gotten into Harvard...)

I am going -- hooray. The funny part? I'm not looking to stay in NC. Uh oh!

Neither am I (or about 50% of last year's graduating class)...as long as you wanna stay in the South Atlantic area I think you are more than fine and anywhere else is probably do-able with grades towards the top of the class...I'm trying to go back home to South Florida afterwards.

Yeah, I'm looking at DC/MD in part because of my SO's plans after I go out of law school (I still feel guilty for putting them on hold, but it'll be okay). We're both tired of living in Winston Salem.

Speaking of which, I've lived here for the past three years. If you all have questions feel free to shoot them at me and I can attempt to respond to them.

I think Wake is really expanding their name, and that they are beginning to have much more mobility than just in NC.

That and the more alumni the spread out the better the school will get!!

Anyone going to House Hunt? I couldn't say no to the combo of signing a lease, free hot dogs, and minor league baseball. It'll be my first time seeing the campus (and setting foot in NC for that matter) so I'm pretty excited.

[worthless anecdote] I have a friend here in DC who is an associate at WilmerHale and was recruited out of WF Law via the OCIs. In her opinion the WF name is definitely expanding in the BigLaw realm. The only thing she'd tell me about her performance at WF was that she did "well." Even beyond her own experiences, she felt WF was gaining respect in bigger markets up the coast. This story ain't too helpful I know, but just thought I'd pass it along. [/worthless anecdote]

I agree with KidA, that the WF name is definitely expanding. The dean is really proactive in trying to expand Wake Forest to become a better law school.

I know this is another ancedote, but in California at least my family has found that more and more lawyers know about Wake Forest and it's good reputation.

Also I won't be attending House Hunt, because I already found my apartment but I move in the middle of June so if you are around let me know.

Also I already know of some of the places they will be showing you so if you want to shoot me a pm I can give you some secret scoop.

Is anyone sad/worried about the lack of information being sent to students already admitted?? I spoke to a woman in the office a couple days ago, and she said that they should have the parking registration forms up on the website, and that we can't know our section until August 15 (orientation). But I guess I just want more information, besides what deadlines I need to follow.

Anyone else feel the same?

yeah i feel the same way. they already posted the course schedules. id really like to know who my professors are and what books i need to buy.

I know!!! I saw that and got so excited. I had to go to the office the next day anyways, and I tried to sweet talk the lady but she held strong. Hmmph. Why can't they just tell us early?!?!?!?

Incredibly Embarrassing Confession: I've mapped out all of the sections, to see the time schedule of each section, and have decided which sections I most want to be in, and which I don't. I'm a loser.

i thought i was bad looking up the profs who taught 1L sections on ratemyprofessors.com, but yeah thats bad too lol.
