Yeah, sorry. We turned this thread into a two-way conversation for just a bit. Unless you were hanging out with us at the ASD in January, then you would be confused.
Okay, so please explain! I'm always interested in hot girls! :D

I wouldn't say no...
0k for a school with a fabricated ranking. Where do all these wash u grads go after law school?
But yeah, there is not much hate. Most people love a school on the rise which gives out a lot of money. As they should.

I am that friend, and yes, I can certainly vouch.

Also, you just basically outlined my first weekend there. Have you been reading my journal?

Note: I don't keep a journal

I know you were at least half-joking but what is interesting is that similar to the legal market, the community as a whole is very insular. People hang out with the people they went to high school with and there is not much room for outsiders. And if you do say you're from St. Louis then the next question is "Where'd you go to high school?". Kind of a bummer for some people who move here and end up really liking it.

This is a little disappointing to me. I really don't have a particular location in mind for where I want to work, but St. Louis seems like a place I would enjoy living in, not just for the three years I'm in school but for a long time thereafter. Maybe I can infuse myself with the community, grab a wife from STL, and convince the firms I'm there to stay.

But I'll take 2 out of 3.

Marrying your way in is definitely the way to do it.

I met a guy here who just happened to be from the same hometown. He said he's been here about 10 years (works in sales) and I asked him if he felt like he was part of the community and he said that he's got friends and considers STL home that he definitely understands he will never truly be a "local" or "insider".

Interesting. I wonder in what ways that attitude acutally manifests itself (for someone who's lived there for a while).

Well, you know, St. Louis doesn't really have a regional identity. Or a state identity for that matter. It's not east, it's not west. I mean, they've made a region called the midwest, but still, it's not even that. It's the "Gateway to the west" And while it's in Missouri, it's basically Illinois. I don't think any of this actually explains anything, all I know is that I saw a very large amount of good looking girls running around different bars while I was there, I found some bars at the Landing that had $1 shots and $2 drinks, and a very nice lady working at the casino kept saying Hurrr to me. Kinda like Nelly. That was enough for me. Tall Hick, would your initials happen to be SC?

I can give you a good example. I befriended a local through a mutual friend. Lives in the same neighborhood. We get along pretty well and I started to feel like I was breaking in because he'd call every now and then to see if I wanted to meet him and his friends out. He has known these friends since junior high. That was until I realized that he and his friends go out every weekend together and have dinner together throughout the week and he was just throwing me a bone like once a month.

Not that I don't like the guy or that I feel slighted but it was interesting to understand the depths of the roots.

Another example is the guy who I mentioned earlier. He said that he has one main competitor for what he sells. His competition is a local and he says that he knows there are just some people he can't call on because he's not a local no matter what price he comes in at.

Well, at least we share the love of the Hansbrough Family. We can take a road trip down to Poplar Bluff next year...haha. Are you already in St. Louis?

SC, it's fine, we can just manifest ourselves on all the non-local sorority girls...

Interesting you say that, because Psycho-T is my 2nd most hated college basketball player ever (Joakim Noah is unequivocably my #1, and no one will probably ever surpass him. Of course, if I was a Carolina fan, I'm sure I'd love him.

No, I live in Nashville right now and am working here until the end of June.

Edit: And I agree with your last post.

Wow, both of those situations are interesting. I mean, to not even have a chance at business because you're not a "local," seems ridiculous to me. (and I come from a place where we're still wary of carpetbaggers)

wustl3l, let me ask you. Have you heard of any of your classmates getting jobs in Milwaukee?

Well..the hate for Tyler has to go down a little seeing as that good 'Ole Ben is heating up in Starkville. Plus, as much as i hated Joakim Noah, Really? Most hated? doesn't even hit top 5 for me.
1. J.J. Redick
2. Gerald Henderson
3. Greg Paulus
4. Adam Morrison
5. Kevin Love

Two of my classmates summered at Foley in Milwaukee last year.

The first three are givens in you're a UNC fan. Adam Morrison is an excellent one. He would probably be #3 on my list, and maybe I should put him at #2 considered he cried DURING an NCAA game that his team still had a chance to win. But I actually kinda like Kevin Love.

I'm not really a huge fan of Ben Hansbrough, either. If you watch as much Mississippi State basketball as I do, you get a good idea of just how horribly ineffective he can be. He 1) never realizes when he's having an off-night (and, unfortunately, these are like 30% of the games he plays) and 2) he has no concept of big men being able to block his shot. So, when we played Memphis, he insisted on taking it inside against Dorsey, and Dorsey insisted on putting every shot into the 3rd row.

Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

Now all we need is a name and uniforms..and no SC, i will not allow you to wear a cape, no matter how many times you ask. As for Ben Hansbrough, it couldn't have been easy being him growing up. Not only is he uglier than his ugly older brother. But he's shorter and less talented. Although, he can shoot. Which tyler is just learning how to do. Team "I really don't care what sorority or where you're from or what you're saying, I've just had a really long week, law school is killing me, and just want to bang you"???? I think it could work.

Haha, the title could probably use some work, but I love your motivation.

See, I think Tyler definitely has the more offensive face. But we can probably agree that they both belong on the NCAA All-Ugly First Team.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
