I don't know. I think it has to be sent to some kinda of graduate office thing...separate from the actual law school....I'm not exactly sure. I don't remember seeing a deadline, so I guess as long as we do it before school starts...

but I really don't know.

Hi everyone!
This is my first time posting here. I've sort of been sticking to facebook. I had my transcript sent to that address about a month ago and when I called, they said they had received it. Looking forward to meeting you soon. I'll be in Austin in about two weeks if anyone wants to hang out.

I think the deadline for our transcripts is a week or two after orientation. I believe that was somewhere in our admissions packet they sent us. But they have to be transcripts from our schools and not just LSAC transcripts.

The fact we don't have classes on Friday is pretty much the most awesome thing ever. I had at least one class from 3-5 in the afternoon every Friday during undergrad.

This is just my experience: I had AT&T for internet a couple years ago, and it sucked. I switched to Time Warner, and I haven't had a single problem. It was quicker*, and it very rarely cuts out.

I've spoken to people who've had the opposite experience, so I'm not going to tell you that Time Warner is necessarily the best. I think it'll probably depend on exactly where you live and the quality of each companies' infrastructure at that location. Talk to your neighbors and see who they use.

*It's been a couple years, and I haven't really looked at what AT&T has to offer now.

The 1200 mile drive and having to furnish an entire apartment will be hectic, but once school starts all should be well!

So, I'm assuming everyone got the same e-mail that I did. Could you guys tell if signing up for one of the book discussion groups at orientation was mandatory? It didn't seem to be that way at the sign up page, but then I looked at the orientation schedule & there's a big block for the discussion. I'm not sure what the slackers who didn't sign up for a discussion group would be doing during that time. Anyone care to guess?

I know it's not for a grade, but I figured it might not be the best first impression with a professor to have no clue what's going on in the discussion group.

Well, here's the email:

We wanted to make sure everyone knows they should continue to check the
Freshlaw Central web site for the remainder of the summer. You will not be
mailed any information regarding Orientation or registration. Everything
you need to know will be posted on Freshlaw. At this time, under Join the
Discussion, there is a link called "Welcome from the Orientation
Co-Chairs"
When you go to this link, you will notice at the top of the welcome letter,
there are links to the Orientation Schedule and Book Discussion. If you
are interested in the Book Discussion, you will notice there is a deadline
to sign up. Tuition bills will be paid during Orientation. We will assign
sections for the incoming class during the first week in August. Once we
complete the sections, we will email everyone to let you know the sections
are available on Freshlaw. Once you know your section, you will know which
books to purchase. I hope this is helpful and please, if you have any
questions, just give us a call or email admissions@law.utexas.edu.
See you soon!

It does sound optional and I'm by by nature a slacker soooo......I think I'll be eating ice cream somewhere while this is going on. Would anyone like to RSVP with me for that?

I was kinda hoping we would have a week or so after orientation before classes. I'm not used to classes before labor day.

I've got a couple friends who just finished their first year at UT Law. Their advice concerning orientation was to skip everything you possibly can because none of it was worthwhile.
