I'm bringing my own furniture, but that's just because I'm lucky and my dad and his girlfriend finally decided to move in together, so I get whatever furniture of my dad's that I want! Otherwise, I would have gone to the ikea. The only thing I'd say is that three years is sort of a long time, and you might be happier buying your own furniture at a place like ikea that isn't too expensive and then selling it on craigslist when you leave Charlottesville. Or buying furniture from craigslist, for that matter (I know a lot of people who did this in undergrad). Renting will probably end up being more expensive, and the kinds of places that have a furniture option are probably going to be more tailored toward undergrads.ubuntu wrote:question ...
i'm coming from boston, and probably won't have a lot of furniture to bring down, so i'm looking for potential furnished places or renting furniture. is anyone else planning on doing this, or am i in the minority here?
I looked into renting furniture this year and it will be WAY more expensive to rent for three years than to buy. I would go with IKEA or craigslist. I think craigslist is a godsend. I got a loveseat, chair, and ottoman in good condition for $100!ubuntu wrote:question ...

Guy, we're starting to get to you, eh You should travel to DC on the 25th for the DC meet and greet and then head down to Cville afterwards (this is what we're trying to convince Holly to do).aguyingeorgia wrote:Must...visit...C-ville...soon...

Nope, it's something we've coordinated on the admitted student forums.MissVirginia wrote:Is the DC meet-and-greet a formal thing you guys organized or an actual Virginia-sponsored reception? if the latter, anyone care to share details?
On Friday April 25th a bunch of us (at least 15) are gonna have a little meet and greet for happy hour (and possibly dinner). If anyone wants to come who hasn't already told me on the uva forum can you PM me so I can make accurate reservations!MissVirginia wrote:Is the DC meet-and-greet a formal thing you guys organized or an actual Virginia-sponsored reception? if the latter, anyone care to share details?

I know! They are supposed to call me back today (such a weird time), but I will call again tomorrow if I don't hear from them. I am nervous!tkm. wrote:sia - the woodlands is amazing! you were definitely right about it being like a resort. I don't want to live anywhere else...but I hear they're going fast
