It seems like most TLSers have already gotten housing or at least have a place in mind and are on a waitlist. If I were you I'd pick a place and get on the waitlist now.CAtoVa wrote:So who here has already secured housing? Am I going to end up SOL?

Are you committed to UVA? Do you have housing locked down?

Hmm. Do most of these places (Ivy, Jefferson, etc.) end up pairing/grouping people up based on the housing applications, or how do the waitlists work?cantwaitforuva wrote:It seems like most TLSers have already gotten housing or at least have a place in mind and are on a waitlist. I am committed to UVA and I almost have housing locked down. I've got a place on hold pending a credit check. So by the end of the week I should have a place.CAtoVa wrote:cantwaitforuva wrote:Feel free to talk about something substantive. I'll respond.CAtoVa wrote:Grrr. Damn you, time zones. I know Ivy can pair you up with a roommate. The waitlists are usually after you've found a roommate and know where you want to live.CAtoVa wrote:

For example, if you aren't certain about UVA, but you have an idea of where you want to live if you go here you could submit an app. so that you would be on the waiting list for an apartment when one becomes available.

Jk, congrats. Where will you be living? (You don't have to give specifics; what community?)

I agree that we aren't a broad sample. But I know for a fact that quite a few complexes are filling up right now. So I wouldn't put it off for too long or you won't have a lot of options.bamabreeze wrote:
Granted I know very little about the housing and how fast things go... but... I wouldn't worry about being behind solely on the basis of us, because we are probably not a representative sample (posting on a housing forum means we are seriously thinking about the housing thing... or maybe just that we are talking about random things, which is way more fun anyway)

It was a hard decision to make, considering my affinity for the West.

Re: UVA Class of 2011 Housing Thread
well for 2 br dens at ivy, we got the floor we wanted, but it's one of the furthest units from the law school. so i'm pretty sure those units are filling. i mean i would think a good 1/2 of the class already is committed to attending and likewise already finding housing. plus 1st deposits are due rather soon.

Here's the basics: syphilis, penicillin, syphilis.J-Rod wrote:ugh . . . my mom just called in the middle of House!!!!! ugh . . . and we talk like once a week so I can't ignore it,

Funny thing is they haven't mentioned lupus, which everything gets blamed on. A positive test for syphilis can be an indicator of lupus. tsk tsk

Here's the website if you're interested: http://www.avemore.net
Wow, Avemore looks nice, but it's just way too far for my taste.
I lolled for a solid 2 mins straight at that "Virtual Move-In" deal. Awesome.

I applied to too many schools and now I don't want to withdraw. It feels like breaking up with the school and breaks my heart a little bit...but I suppose Wednesday is the day.

My friends all have their housing figured out.bamabreeze wrote:Hmmm... I guess I just kind of assumed that housing doesn't really fill yet, because the majority of my friends who applied to law school don't know where they're going next year yet, and even those who do know haven't even started to think about housing. Maybe that is uncommon though?
I think it also has to do with the complexes I'm looking at. The ones I'm looking at are nicer and farther from campus, so I'm competing with law, business, med students and young professionals.

Also bama, a lot of us have been in contact with people who currently go to UVA law and they've said that housing goes quickly. So it's sort of a self-fulfilling prophesy.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
