Re: University of Virginia School of Law 2011
OK guys just got in off the waitlist. Now it's time for me to find housing. Preferably, I'd like a decent sized one bedroom for myself. What would be the best areas to look for nice one bedroom apartments? Do people use brokers in Charlottesville? I wouldn't mind driving 15 minutes or so to school. Also, if one bedrooms are scarce, I wouldn't mind living with one or two roommates. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys.

Woodlands and Carriage Hill are nice and ~10 minute drive to school. It'd be pretty expensive to live alone in a nice place, costs would drop pretty significantly if you're willing to get a roommate or two.

Gladiator is exactly right -- you're not going to find a really nice 1-bedroom for anything less than $1000, but you can live in a pretty sweet place for about $700 if you have a roommate. I am living in a 3-bedroom in the Woodlands for about $690 a month with only one roommate. Granted, I got a special rate... but there are still some people who nabbed one early who haven't found roommates. Avemore, Carriage Hill, and Jefferson Ridge also look like nice places, but I've only actually visited the Woodlands in person.gladiator wrote:Woodlands and Carriage Hill are nice and ~10 minute drive to school. Don't forget the Avemore...Carriage Hill can be a pain, I tried them but I'm going with the Avemore. How much are you willing to spend for a 1 bedroom? There is a really wide price range for 1 bedrooms at the Avemore.

I know some people on here are even still looking for a 2nd or 3rd. Ring admissions tomorrow and have them set you up for the UVA message board ASAP. There are a bunch of people on there looking for roommates.

Woodlands and Carriage Hill do look very nice. Anyone need an extra roommate?? I'm a sociable male who likes to drink and have fun but will crack down and do work when I need to. I'm not super clean but definitely not a slob.

2.5 MORE PAGES.
Why do I always write the full 10 pages when it's an 8-10 page paper? Why?????
Yay Gladiator -- congrats on the right choice

For most of college I was only capable of writing four-page papers. The assignment was six pages? I wrote four. The assignment was two pages? I wrote four. So, at least you're in the range.sialeeds wrote:Why do I always write the full 10 pages when it's an 8-10 page paper?

I always write right up to the limit, unless it's longer than 10 pages. Once I hit 10 (or maybe 12), I run out of steam. I just tend to have so many quotes for lit papers, and I'm pretty good at being able to figure out how long the paper will be based on the number of quotes, but I hate cutting good ones out. So yeah. Time to crank out those final pages...
We're going to have EXAMS next year!!! I haven't studied for an exam in so long... the only exams I take are essay exams which I don't really need to study more than 30 minutes for. I feel as if I am in for a rude awakening, but at least I'll be done with papers for awhile...

Re: University of Virginia School of Law 2011
Hey rayallen,
I did a pretty extensive search for one bedrooms in c-ville and eventually I got one down on the corner so I could walk to restaurants/bars/bus, but it's pretty small and costs around 900/mo. One bedrooms were tougher to find at the corner but there seemed to be some real nice ones near the downtown mall that were around the same price I think. The building I looked at was called the Merriwether(sp) that had a couple gorgeous 1 bedrooms in the 800-900 range. The really upscale building near the downtown mall is The Randolph, but I believe you'll be over $1,000 for that. But check the downtown mall area for nice one bedrooms because I think there's some nice places available there and it's quiet.
