Mocha, I did the same thing to make sure the family and I are eligible; we are. My problem is that you can't enroll in the health insurance program until you receive your ID number and the school doesn't provide ID numbers until after you register for your classes...the woman I spoke to in the ID office was completely confused about law school students who don't have a traditional class registration. The short end of many phone calls is that I have to wait until I move up and get a student ID number to register, but you can enroll in the Aetna program until October 3, 2008, and it's retroactive from August 15, 2008.

Okay I guess I have time to wait before I can do anything anyway then. Thanks again for your help!

Yeah, unfortunately I (and everyone I know) has Comcast. They are total pricks. Embarq is kinda new here, but really could they possibly be worse than Comcast?

I am also good at restaurants, where to get your car inspected/ repaired and things to do with kids.

I am really good at where to drink.

I figured as much. I'm going to deal with the devil and get Comcast. Did anyone else get a huge packet of info in the mail today? It seems to be a repeat of info on the website, but it's always helpful to have it printed for you.

It included the date sections will be announced and the final exam schedule so that was new.

Of COURSE I booked a flight to Thailand on December 18th and we have an exam then. OF COURSE.

Knowing my luck, I'll change my flight to the 19th, be out a ton of money, and then they'll change the date of the exam (since it's a "tentative" schedule).

To opt out of the health plan, all you have to do is send back your Pre-Entrance Health record with all of your immunizations and such. On the form, do not check the box that says you will use the university's insurance. Include a photocopy of the front and back of your insurance card when returning the form. After I faxed the Pre-Entrance Health Record along with a copy of my insurance card, I called Student Health a few days later. They said I was set and didn't need to do anything else.

I'm pretty sure it is as simple as that.

EDIT: I did a little more research because you guys make me paranoid. http://www.virginia.edu/studenthealth/insurance.html "All new students must submit a copy of their health insurance card as proof of insurance along with the Pre-Entrance Health Record."


P.S. I've been busy with work and havem't been able to catch up on this board too much. I just want to make sure that I have everything on track, so if I'm missing anything, please let me know.

P.S. I have Sprint and have no complaints. A little expensive if you're not on a family plan, but it's been fine for me the last 5 years or so. Plus, when I was moving into my apt in Charlottesville, the service was great.
