Loan Repayment During School

Post by draymondgreen » Wed Mar 22, 2017 9:03 pm

I'm a 0L with some need-based aid for next year. Given my parents' financials and the award document, I don't think there is an expected parent contribution factored into the school's calculation of my need. In the event that my parents do contribute (thereby reducing my need), will this impact next year's aid figures? Can I simply request a smaller loan than the school has offered (thereby avoiding origination fees) without explanation? Or, if I repayed during the school year, will that affect my eligibility for aid in the following year?

Thanks! Sorry for the convoluted question

You need to call your school's financial aid department and/or FAFSA to ask them all these questions. This is way too school/financial aid specific for anyone here to give correct and relevant advice on a forum like this.
