IP and Other "Sciency" Legal Scholarships

It's hard not to notice that many scholarships and fellowships for fields like IP and energy law ask for and/or prefer people with technical backgrounds. While I'm waiting to hear back from a particular scholarship about whether or not my lack of science degree will hurt against me (since it's in the description but not in the eligibility), does anyone here without a science degree have any anecdotes about applying for and receiving (or not receiving) scholarships related to IP, energy law, or any other "scientific" field?

Would it be super tacky to ask which scholarships you're looking into?
-someone with a science degree interested in "sciency" law

It's school specific so I'll PM you.
*Also it's hella easy to find law scholarships. Actually applying to them and getting them = like studying for the LSAT all over again
