Adjunct Position While in Law School

Does anyone have any experience with being an adjunct while in law school? If so, did you just contact the department head directly and ask? What was the process? Does anyone have any information regarding if schools give preference in hiring adjuncts to students of the professional schools/PhD programs at their schools? Any advice would be greatly appreciate! Thanks!
