Do any schools require that you fill out any financial aid forms or applications or anything like that at the time you submit your application? I know you can't do FAFSA until the new year but I'm just curious if I should be filling out any finacial aid things right now. Will I get merit based scholarships without explicitly applying for aid?

And I understand these are very basic low level questions but I have no clue how finacial aid works haha

Not an expert by any means, but I completed around 10 applications this week and most of them asked one or two questions about whether I would be applying for financial aid. The deadlines for necessary documents/questionnaires are due next year for CLS, for example. link here
