We can use Duke as an example (
http://www.lstscorereports.com/?school=duke)
They list non-discounted tuition at 49,617, and indirect costs (which includes living expenses) at 17,708. This comes out to 67,325 a year, and 201,975 over three years, yet LST lists the non-discounted cost at 252,727. This leaves 50,752 unaccounted for. Wheres that extra money coming from?

i think they also account for the interest that accrues on loans as you're in school.

Yeah, pretty sure it's adding in the interest (it's assuming you have taken out full sticker price loans).

It includes interest until 6 months after graduation, when payments first become due.

Man I had no idea interest accumulated that quickly.
