Is it okay to notify a school of a scholarship offer from a peer school before initial merit aid offer is made?

I don't know about this for certain, and hopefully someone else will chime in, but I would say it's best to wait and see what they offer first. My reason for saying this is that you may end up cheating yourself out of some aid (in some cases). If the school knows what other offers are, they are probably more likely to just match it (instead of perhaps beating it). It seems to me you'd be showing your hand a little early in that case. I could be wrong though. This may help:
