UT scholarships for 2L

I was recently admitted to UT and qualify for in-state tuition and a few need-based grants, but unfortunately there is no merit scholarship available at this item. The financial aid office did indicate I could apply for scholarships as a 2L, but I'm not sure about the rank I would need to obtain or the scholarship I can expect to get. I would be incredibly appreciative if anyone on here has been in a similar situation and could provide some insight.

I currently have a full-tuition scholarship at SMU with a top 1/3 stipulation. UT is my top choice, but I'm not sure if I should give up the SMU offer to pay in-state sticker my first year or if I should possibly try to transfer in as a 2L.

If I do decide to transfer from SMU to UT, what class rank is needed for me to be competitive?

Also, OP...what are your numbers? I'm guessing you got off the waitlist.

honestly, that's BS from UT. I'm paying nearly sticker, I'm top 2% at UT after 1L, and I have a Harvard transfer acceptance. They told me they wouldn't reevaluate my scholarship

OP: The class rank that you would need to transfer from SMU to Texas would be well within the top third meaning that you would be giving up a full tuition & fees (plus stipend ?) scholarship to transfer. SMU's offer is worth serious consideration, in my opinion.

To be clear, my point is that you need to select either Texas at sticker or SMU with a full tuition scholarship & plan on graduating from that school. (Unless, of course, you finished well into the top 5% after your first year & transferred to Harvard or Chicago or another top 5 law school.)

Nope, i'm an idiot in love and I'm staying. I got law review, so that helps justify it.

Courageous decision. Congratulations. At least you got Harvard to say "yes" & have the document to prove it ! :D
