Perkins and/or Grad Direct Plus Summer School Question

Just trying to figure out how does this work?
Took out regular Stafford last year and was fine, but I will need a little extra this go round to cover summer school.
Has anyone taken summer school and has taken out one of the above mentioned loans? Really interested in how the disbursement works?
Would you get the 10k Stafford each semester and than the extra before SS?
