Has anyone negotiated for a guaranteed tuition amount?

Frankly, it seems like a bit of a racket that law schools can give you a scholarship, which is merely a discount on the tuition price that they (somewhat) arbitrarily set themselves. A $10,000 scholly? Great! Tuition goes up $5,000/year (or more) and it is wiped out. the student is already enrolled so does not have the leverage to do anything about it.

I had similar thoughts on scholarship stipulations. Top 50%? Who decides who is in the top 50%? The school. GPA of 3.2 or better? Who sets the curve? The school. I'm not saying the schools are going to intentionally circumvent your scholarship, but what is stopping them? Who would know? What could you do at that point anyway?

Has anyone asked for, and/or received an upfront, guaranteed tuition price from the school for their LS education?

Some scholarships increase in-step with tuition increases. Typically these are "full tuition" scholarships as opposed to a set dollar amount.

Illinois has a tuition guarantee saying it won't change for any incoming student during their three years there.

Yeah, it's law in IL. No state school can change tuition on students while they are enrolled.
