Private loans for non US citizens.

Post by qvorum » Sun Jan 29, 2012 6:27 pm

Hey guys,

I guess this is a question oriented mainly to the foreign kids around here. What are the options for commercial loans for non US citizens? Not only do I lack a citizenship - I lack a US co-signer as well. Do you think there are chances to get a loan without a co-signer? Does it depend on the reputation of the school I will be attending?

Thank you.

I'm struggling with the same issue. I could only find one institution that does not require a cosigner (however, it does require some sort of a bond/guarantee in your home country), called Global Student Loan Corporation http://www.globalslc.com/. There website looks sketch but they work with HSBC from what I understand. The problem with it is that it only some countries are eligible (mine is not).
