Scholarship Negotiation for big money

I'm pretty well versed in the methods used negotiating scholarships, and from the looks of these boards folks have had pretty good results. Most of what I have seen has been people with little scholarships getting medium-sized ones. Has anyone been able to move a large scholarship to full tuition?
I am in at Alabama with 23.5k/31k and SLU with 27k/36k. Under ideal circumstance I'd like to stay in St. Louis (my hometown,) but I'm not sure if I can justify paying more money for SLU than Alabama.
166/3.3

Trying to go to school for less money. Not more.
edit
but I understand the sentiment. 166 is really an annoying score.
