I see a lot of schools have certain financial aid deadlines about early March. What are you supposed to do if you've not received your decision by then?

Apply for their scholarships now. I had this problem last year, didn't want to waste time applying for financial aid if I wasn't going to be accepted -- and then I was accepted in March and it was too late to apply for schollys. I really regret it.

if you're talking about fafsa then you can add a school to your fafsa list even before you get your decision, shoot you don't even have to apply to the school to add it to your fafsa list, the fafsa report goes to the school no matter what..also many schools have a feb 1 deadline so make sure you're not late with submitting your fafsa, if so, that can delay you getting your financial aid package from your school of choice.

You pick the "intend to file taxes" option, estimate from last year's taxes, and submit it. Then when you get your W2, you can correct your numbers, change your status to "have filed" and resubmit.

But what about financial aid other than FAFSA? In my case I was thinking about Harvard and Stanford loan and grants service. Should we apply with them before March 1st as well even if we do not know yet if we are in?
