Necessary to Apply for Financial Aid to Get Scholarships?

I know that I will not qualify for financial aid, in the FAFSA sense, because my parents are all things considered pretty well off. However, I'd still obviously like to get as many scholarships as possible. If I don't fill out the FAFSA and apply for "financial aid", will I still be able to be awarded merit-based scholarships by law schools?

Yes. Merit-based scholarships are usually offered in your letter of acceptance.

Some schools require FAFSA before granting any aid/scholarships at all. Some also require an additional (pain in the ass) thing called Need Access. Read the school's instructions, and follow them.

Most scholarships seem to be offered along with your acceptance letter. However, sometimes they're offered later (as in my case), and I'm not sure if FAFSA has any effect on them at that point.

Mixed bag of when they get offered. Some come in your acceptance. Others come later. Still many school require the need access even if you are only hoping for merit.
