I believe as long as you are independent you don't need their info. Esp since its grad school not undergrad. Also, if you are over like 24 you are automatically independent for financial aid purposes.

you want to send it to every school you apply to on the first day you can. If any of your schools require NeedAccess, you will most likely have to use your parents' info. Are you married? Are you over 30? If you're married, but under 30, some schools still require you to put your parents (mine did and only asked for their taxes and not mine or my spouse's when I decided to attend there). For FAFSA purposes, if you have not been claimed for I think 3 years, then you don't have to put your parents' info. Check with your school though, because some schools still require it on the FAFSA (though for EFC calculations, it won't be added). If you have been claimed, it won't matter if you are estranged, you need their info.
