Summer Medical Insurance

What is one supposed to do for medical insurance over the summer? My job ends in June, and I imagine our insurance won't kick in until August or September. I figure students graduating college are in this same situation. Are we supposed to go insuranceless for a month or two?

If you're >26, you can likely find your own insurance for a fraction of the price of the university's student insurance.
http://www.healthplanstore.com might get you started, as long as you don't mind a week's worth of solicitation phone calls.

Thanks for the quick response. So you just hop on for a month or two and then get off? There are no minimum time requirements?
EDIT:
"For those who enroll in the dependent coverage, the average policy will cost $3,380 for each dependent in 2011; $3,500 in 2012; and $3,690 in 2013, according to HHS's mid-range estimates. Those extra costs are tax-deductible. "
Crap, that's a lot of money!

Genius unless you get hit by a drunk driver, fall down the stairs, your appendix ruptures...etc
COBRA, dude.
