Negotiation using other school's seat deposits as leverage?

Has anyone tried negotiating aid by stating something like:

"Hey Dean Awesomename,

Right now it's between your Awesome Law School and Mediocre Law School. Mediocre Law has offered me much more money than you, which is the only reason I am still considering them. Mediocre's seat deposit deadline is coming up here pretty soon, and if Awesome Law could find it in its heart and budget to offer me a bit more aid money, I would totally consider not putting a seat deposit down at Mediocre Law. wink, wink.

In all sincerity,

Poor N. Hopeful"

Haven't found anything on the boards, so I'm just wondering if this is even an acceptable method of negotiation.

Thanks for the help.

This is routine, and perfectly acceptable. Just be honest and respectful with everybody when you ask -- pretty much as with everything else.
