Negotiating Aid...

Is it too soon to start negotiating?
I was accepted a mid-20's school with a full-ride (located in the mid-west), and into a school in the 50's with 50k (located on the west coast). Is it too soon to call the West Coast school to see if they will up the $$$?
Also, the West Coast school puts a top 30% stipulation, the mid-west school has no stipulation. Is this negotiable?
Thanks!

Sure, the sooner the better, before their financial aid budget runs out. The school won't do anything about the top 1/3 condition but it's worth trying.

no way it's not too soon, I negotiated a 35k per year scholarship with a school after initially being offered no money about 2 weeks ago. get on it asap.

Can I ask how you did this? I don't want to mess up my only chance to negotiate.
