If anyone's buying a Macbook, make sure to utilize the student discount.

Or save even more on taxes and buy it from Amazon (or anywhere else).JOThompson wrote:If anyone's buying a Macbook, make sure to utilize the student discount.

For a new Macbook, the Apple store discounted price is still slightly cheaper than Amazon. Good point about the taxes though, I'll go do some hunting.Jericwithers wrote:Or save even more on taxes and buy it from Amazon (or anywhere else).JOThompson wrote:If anyone's buying a Macbook, make sure to utilize the student discount.

The 8.25% they charge here in Texas makes it cheaper to buy most anything from a 'click and mortar' store; still about $20 cheaper than getting it from Apple.JOThompson wrote:For a new Macbook, the Apple store discounted price is still slightly cheaper than Amazon. If you're looking to save money, you missed the Fry's deal that was going on for several hours. $999 before $8.95 shipping or in-store pickup. Taxes killed it for Californians.JOThompson wrote:For a new Macbook, the Apple store discounted price is still slightly cheaper than Amazon. Perhaps if you go down to the street corner, the local crack whore will give you a cheap case of the clap, too.

Just wanted to say that lately Provantage has been displacing Frys and Newegg for me when ordering routers, switches and the like. I have no idea where the hell they came from, but I noticed them a couple months ago. They have hard to find stuff too, like HPNA or MoCA bridges to bridge ethernet over existing coax or phone cabling in the home. They also carry a good amount of non-computer stuff --decent selection of bags and briefcases, for instance. They are out of Ohio, so no tax to CA (or TX.) I've been very pleased with them so far.

Thanks, I'll have to check it out. This weekend is Fry's 25th anniversary though, so I doubt Provantage can beat Fry's 'coke and a hotdog' for 25cents deal (not to mention Charlie Chip is going to be there!).Duralex wrote:Just wanted to say that lately Provantage has been displacing Frys and Newegg for me when ordering routers, switches and the like. http://www.microcenter.com/ sing up for the e-mail news letter, sometimes they have e-mail only deals as well, I seriously don't understand how they stay in biz with the prices they offer on sale stuffvexion wrote:Where do I get wind of these deals?Matthies wrote:Last week I got a 2TB Seagate internal for $99 bucks
