Expected Assistance - UC Hastings

In my financial aid info for UC Hastings, the amount of loans I can take is directly reduced by the money I said my family would contribute in the Need Access application. My parents can probably afford the amount I entered, but it's not a sure thing and I essentially just guessed. Had I known that the number I entered would directly reduce the amount of loans available, I would have guessed more conservatively. Think it's possible for me to now tell Hastings that my parents won't be helping as much as I said they would, without seeming like I'm trying to scam them?
