I'm probably going to borrow an amount equal to the cost of attendance so I can cover my room/board/etc.

My question:

How fast is it possible to receive that aid? I have heard people say the beginning of september, but I probably won't have enough money to find a place on my own by then. Am I going to have to live in a hotel or something for my first month until I receive the loan money and find a place?

Has anyone been in this situation?

You shouldn't count on getting your loan disbursement money until the first day of classes, plus or minus a week or two. So you're going to have to save up some money for rent and lease deposit.
