What exactly does an EFC score of 13838 mean? Is this good or bad?

Thanks... probably should have looked more extensively at how to pay for this before I applied. Whatev... I'll figure it out.Sauer Grapes wrote:Yes.
Thanks for the heads up... not sure how unique my circumstances are. I live in NYC and pay out the ass in rent and pretty much everything else. Completely independent financially... but that doesn't seem unique. So.. who do I send this statement to? Is it via email?mhernton wrote:There is a statement that you can submit to you Financial Aid office explaining that you have special circumstances and the EFC does not equate to your ability to pay for school. In My case, I'm married with a wife going to college and not working right now before school.
Contact the schools financial aid office. They should be able to adjust your aid to account for whatever you can actually contribute. I think the EFC from the FAFSA limits some of the aid you are eligible for, but you still will have full eligibility for at least unsubsidized federal loans. Basically, as long as you don't have excessive undergrad debt you should be able to finance most or all of law school with federal loans regardless of your EFC.Neelio wrote:Thanks for the heads up... not sure how unique my circumstances are. Damn... lucky you... your out of pocket cost is going to be about $691 a year!blackmamba76 wrote:Just did mine and my EFC was 691, what should I expect and how does this affect me?

to clarify... i mean $691 outside of the federal subsidized/unsubsidized loans (and grants) you'll receive. So you'll still have loans, they'll just have nice, low interest rates.blackmamba76 wrote:Neelio wrote:Damn... lucky you... your out of pocket cost is going to be about $691 a year!blackmamba76 wrote:Just did mine and my EFC was 691, what should I expect and how does this affect me?
If that's the case, then I can sleep easy at night.
