me and my wife together earn about 85k per year. I earn 70k myself. we do have a child. will this affect the amount of money I can borrow through a stafford/gradplus loan? I'm only looking to borrow upto the cost of attendence.

Since you have a family, you can most likely borrow more than full COA. You might not get subsidized Stafford the first year, but that's about the effect of your income.
