Assets and the FAFSA

We have a family business that is run through a couple of LLC's and I was previously told I needed to disclose the worth of the LLC's as assets on the FAFSA. I also have been told there is an exception for small businesses so I don't need to include the LLC's on the FAFSA. Anybody have any idea as to whether or not I have to include their value when filling out the FAFSA?
