Negotiating Aid in the T6

Hi everyone,

So I am in at NYU and Harvard so far among the T6. I have several applications out to lower T14 schools, and am waiting for any scholarship/merit offers.

Questions:

Do any schools in the T6 match offers from the lower T14? Or do they only consider financial offers from the other T6 schools?

Is it true that HYS do not negotiate aid?

Any success in increasing an aid offer from either NYU or Columbia?

Thanks!

HYS only do need based aid. You could ask one of them to reconsider your aid package on the basis that they might not have assessed your need accurately (some would call this negotiation), which would be helped if another HYS school gave you a substantially different aid package.

I am not aware of any formal policies at CCN where they'll match the funding from other schools, but that doesn't mean they won't do it case by case.

HYS only offer need-based aid, so it's probably trickier to get a straight-up match from CCN. CCN might match each other on a case by case basis.

how would Columbia or NYU respond to a full-ride offer at a T10? 1/2 match, 1/4 match? anything?
