Do you need loans? If so you need to fill out the FAFSA.

Definitely not too late to do, it only became available January 1st. Get it in by mid-February and you'll be fine. It shouldn't hurt your chances at any schools, many very intelligent people don't understand the student loan system. It's very rare to have people who will not need some form of financial aid. Just be upfront with them, either way they're getting paid, whether it be from out of your pocket, through the federal government or private loans. It's much better to fill out the FAFSA and not need loans than it is to not fill it out and realize your savings have dried up by the middle of your first year.
