GULC Public Interest Law Scholars

Is anyone planning to apply for this program? I just started the app, but I feel it's a bit strange for them to require you to spend "most or all of your career" in public interest when they are only going to pay 1/3 of your tuition. This seems pretty stingy compared to many other schools...like NYU, for example, which provides full tuition and requires 10 years for the Root-Tilden-Kern. Any current recipients out there who can comment on the quality of this program?
And a question about the application itself, perhaps for those who applied already: They ask for a list of your PI activities, a list of your employment during school, and a resume. Do you think it's ok to just copy and paste those sections of my resume onto the PI and employment lists? They're all the same, and I'm not sure why they asked for 3 separate things.

I am working on the app today, actually.

With respect to the above, I agree that it is strange. I am just going to use it to elaborate a bit more on the items I list in my resume.

So who wound up applying? Should we make this thread the place where you share information regarding the selection process? I say yes.

Haven't heard anything either. FYI, I read in an old post that they give out around 8 per year, but dig pretty deep into the waitlist since most of the original winners take Root-Tilden-Kern and similar scholarships.

I've heard the 8 per year thing too. I wonder how many people applied? I love GULC and am dying to go there and only want to do Public Interest work, so I'm really praying for this!
Has anyone heard anything yet, or know when we might hear anything? I wonder when they pick the finalists, how long they'll have to accept before they start going into the WL.

Hey guys, I also applied for PILS. Also haven't heard.
I don't remember the specifics of the scholarship. Is it $20K/year, something like that?

From GULC Website:
Specifically, the Public Interest Law Scholars Program (PILS) provides financial and other support each year to eight students who demonstrate a commitment to spend most of their careers in public service.
It continues...
Each scholar receives a scholarship worth up to one third of annual tuition. In return, the scholar makes a moral commitment to spend much of his or her career in public interest law or to donate to the Law Center an amount at least equal to the scholarship. PILS scholars must maintain a "B" average and participate in Program activities to remain eligible for the scholarship.

Just withdrew, guys. Never heard back about PILS, but realized I would've turned it down if I'd gotten it anyway. Good luck to the rest of you.

Haha you nearly gave me a heart attack when I realized that someone had posted to this thread. I thought someone heard back haha. Good luck to you-- Do you think you'll go to Stanford?
Edit: P.S.- Thank you for withdrawing after realizing PILS wouldn't matter. It helps out the rest of us, even just a bit, and I appreciate it

When I saw this thread bumped I got excited too, haha. I'm really hoping they release decisions on PILS before the April 1 scholarship acceptance deadline. I'm waiting til the 11th hour to send that form in...
And Crackberry, good luck with your final school decision and thank you for making PILS slightly less competitive :p

Yeah, I'll be at Stanford unless Yale admits me (unlikely). Anyway, good luck. PILS seems like a great program.

Sorry for the heart attacks I may or not have caused by bumping this thread! I have not heard anything new...
However, several posters have said that they'll start considering applications this week!!! If anyone hears anything post it here

They have at least started to inform those selected for PILS, but I have no idea if they have let everyone know yet. PM for more info.

I think they already notified the people who got it. I certainly didn't hear anything. Anyone hear anything about a WL?
