African American male lsat 160+ and sub 3.0 gpa

After viewing the numbers and schools that other URM's have gotten into with good gpa's 3.5> and okay lsats around 160 more or less, im setting here kicking my self cause i would have been a lock at some t14s if I hadn't blown my undergrad GPA. Nonetheless is anyone one familiar with the acceptance prospects of applicants with similar credentials? I checked LSN and most URM's don't post their numbers.
Also anyone think I should re-apply at the beginning of the cycle next year and retake the LSAT I tested around 170 but didn't make it there on the real thing.

You'll have to be more specific with the GPA and LSAT. There is a big difference between a 2.9/169 and a 2.1/161.

Well, I'm sure you'll get in somewhere with that LSAT score. My best guess is that you'll max out at schools around T30 if you really blanket them.

Applying EA to cornell could be a good move:

A 170's score would definitely help.

and a 3.0. snowctu has a sub 3.0 and did quite well with a 170+. I don't think the others did so bad. If you can get into George Mason or the like with below a 3.0 I think you are in good shape. But its a crapshoot. Who knows, really.

Thanks, I found this guy BigStrongBlackie
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/BigStrongBlackie who supposedly got into Cornell, Columbia and some other t25s with a 159 and 2.5 but this profile is probably either fake, or he had some ridiculous soft factors. Still, if his profile is real then I assume I should do pretty good despite my low GPA, but who knows.
Thanks for the help.

URM get a pass on low LSAT, but not as much on low gpa.

My stats are very similar (slightly higher LSAT, but slightly lower GPA). I was on the fence about waiting to apply early in the cycle next year, but decided to apply this year and see what happens. I applied to ~10 schools in the T20 - T50 range (with a few T-14 super reaches). Good luck, and I'll let you know how my cycle goes (I know there's very little data on LSN for extreme AA splitters).

yeah same here i applied to about 14 schools myself, 1 t14, i.e. Columbia, cause they gave me a fee-waiver just so they could have one more person to ding. Then I applied to 13 other schools from the t20-t70. I also applied in early January which isn't the best time to apply but I wanted to start in the fall. Still haven't heard from most of the schools so I don't know what this cycle will be like. I wonder if the reason their taking so long is because I'm an URM or because I'm a reject/waitlist. Not sure.

I'm 99% sure its fake, and somewhat offensive. At any rate, admissions has become more difficult since 2003. I think you should study more and retake and/or take advantage of a binding ED in the 20's to 30's. I think that is the best you can hope for with a 2.2 gpa, even with a 170 LSAT, unless you went to a top UG or have great job experience. You are going to have to write every optional essay and really sell yourself, too. Don't fret, though. With that GPA, you are lucky you are smart enough to do so well on the LSAT that you will go to a decent law school. There are some great programs in the mid-to-lower T1 and T2, which you should be proud to attend.

Yeah, I figured his profile was fake, the name says it all. I'm thinking at this point, I cant change the past and would be glad to go to a good t1 or t2 school, and if I do really well there, then see what kind of transfer opportunities I might have. I went to a large public schools but not a T10 or anything. No real work experience just grad school and a ton of volunteer stuff. Waiting till next year to re-apply and retake the LSAT might be to risky and even with a 170 I probably wont' get into any of my dream schools. I'll probably just ride this cycle out.

Is a 2.7/+176 LSAT URM w/ WE for YLS possible?

I go to t-14 law school, and I can tell you that most of the URMs who had lower LSAT scores generally had a high GPA to match it. I don't know anyone who had a low GPA but a high LSAT split, however people don't exactly share their exact grades.

Those are more CCNMVPB numbers with CCN being a reach. There is really not much of a GPA boost for us.

Scenario,
Both of my parents and my older sister attended a T-14 Law School. My gpa is a 3.2 and I am taking the June lsat. In all of my classes I have have been scoring around 160 on my prep test. What are my chances on getting into their alma mater with a 160 on the June lsat?

This has been my experience. I have a very strong LSAT and a sub-3.0. I was shut out of all schools that have "traditional" (i.e. LSN data) 3.0 floors.
