is the yale app worth the money? or even stanford/harvard? what should my "target" list be vs reach and unobtainable. I'm a black male (lgbt) which Ive heard matters.

Putting aside admissions outcomes, every point on the LSAT matters and is worth like, literally tens of thousands of dollars in financial aid.
You have a fantastic GPA. If you care about getting into HYS, retake, get to 170 (no reason you can't get one if you already have a 166), and apply exclusively to the T6. At the *absolute* worst you'd be looking at near-full rides at CCNs and almost certainly admissions to Harvard and SLS.
As it stands, you'd probably get into T6s with decent aid, but why not maximize your cycle by bumping the LSAT up a few points?

Harvard and Stanford, absolutely. Yale, you do need at least a 170.
