With a 3.3 gpa, should I even be looking at the T14?

Hi all,
I am an AA 2015 grad planning to apply to law school this cycle and am about to begin lsat prep. I took a diagnostic last year without being familiar with the lsat and got a 151 (test was taken after a 8 hour day at work

). I hope to get this to a 165+ .
Either way, do I have a chance at a top law school with a low gpa? I attended a top UG that had grade deflation

You have a good chance if you get a good LSAT score.
I made a promise to myself not to take the LSAT until I am PT'ing consistently in the 170s. Further, I promised that I won't accept any score short of my target (170) without retaking. Law school isn't going anywhere (at least the T14 isn't) so take your time; be dedicated; work hard. You can do it.
My diagnostic was a ~151. Been studying for 6 weeks and I am close to breaking into the 160s! I'm halfway there!

To address your question fully: I had a 2.55 uGPA and 171 LSAT; while I didn't get into the T14, I'm pretty sure if you can get 171, you should be able to. But your question is premised on you scoring above 165+; as an AA, you will get a URM boost, which is hard to gauge. As far as your undergraduate school's ranking goes, I hardly think that's ever a factor-most schools care about LSAT and GPA to maintain or improve their USNWR rankings anyway; it may be if some schools wish to determine how rigorous your prior education was, but I feel LSAT does a good job of balancing out candidates from different schools.
TL DR: I think you should be able to hit at least GULC if you get 165+; probably up to NU and UVA with 171; whether you want any of those is up to you.

Yeah just get like a 165+ and I believe you are in reach. Do you have any schools in mind specifically?

Me: Lower GPA, non-URM, graduated at T6
Also got a ton of other acceptances at T14, as well as scholarships
Just do well on the LSAT

Sky is the limit bro, while your gpa is low, the boost for AA's is pretty substantial. Right now it's all about the lsat for you. Depending on how well you perform on the lsat, you could end up at a T-6 or a TTT. Don't worry about a shitty diag score just buckle down, study hard and do the best you can and apply to all T14 schools.
