I heard that URMs tend to hear back in the spring, even if they apply early in the fall. Anyone hear that?

Checking in. AA male.
Just sent in my apps today, so hopefully I'll hear some good things at the start of the new year.
Wishing everyone else success!

+1 but if I miraculously get into H, I'm sure I could figure it all out in the 24 hours before the first classTorres1893 wrote:Oh man, I hope not. I lurk this thread regularly, first time checking in.
Finished my PS and GPA addendum this week. Did all of you submit a DS as well? Is it sort of expected from URM applicants?

Not sure about whether or not it's expected, but I did submit one with almost all, if not all, of my apps.A Poor Pianist wrote:I lurk this thread regularly, first time checking in.

I felt like my PS could double as a DS, I wanted to make my app as concise as possible. So far it's been a great cycle!

My PS was a DS. When I was writing them my PS was too naked and my DS statement was too long so I just combined them. Just got into Duke so it can't have worked too badly.A Poor Pianist wrote:I lurk this thread regularly, first time checking in.

Anyone applying to SEO adding their pic? I'm not planning to. Wasn't sure if anyone had some strong feelings one way or the other about it

I thought about the amount of effort I would have to go through to get one that wasn't from high school/didn't have ridiculously colored lipstick/didn't have other people in it and decided to not.brinicolec wrote:Anyone applying to SEO adding their pic? Not planning on it. SEO says it won't hurt, but who really knows?azaleafire wrote:I thought about the amount of effort I would have to go through to get one that wasn't from high school/didn't have ridiculously colored lipstick/didn't have other people in it and decided to not.brinicolec wrote:Anyone applying to SEO adding their pic? Also, does anyone know if the scholarship essay has that little "required" asterisk regardless of if you've indicated you want to apply or not?
