If you qualify for URM, 168 will "suffice." A 170+ will be a lock at H, strong chance at YS.

If you're not URM, you're gonna need to be above median for each school for a good shot.

Eh, I'm wary that the MA/PR boost is this clear cut.

As someone who was in your shoes, OP, I'd really strongly recommend not trying to gauge some lesser range that would make you a shoe-in at any given school based on your URM status. When it comes to studying for the LSAT, your best bet is going to be aiming for stats that make you competitive regardless of your ethnicity (the school's medians).

I should have clarified "strong" to have been relative. It might not be more than a coin toss, but it's as strong as it's going to get without any unicorn magic. Such is the case with black box admissions. Stanford's median dropped to 171 a well, so it's not like you need upper 170's for a "good chance."

Yes always shoot for 180. But don't not apply to HYS with a 169 or something because you think it's a waste of app money and time.

I'm also a URM and scored in the high 160's. I feel that I underperformed this cycle, although I applied late (Feb).

Do the best you can. Don't bank on URM status...especially being Hispanic URM. Shoot for 170+ for the best chances, and apply early.

Anything above a 166 is worth blanketing the t14 but don't expect miracles. In that situation, prepare for the possibility of a retake...if not for admission then for scholarship consideration.

Does anyone know approximately how many MA score above 165+ every year?

Also do you think it matters in admissions if I haven't been working in the legal field at all?

2) I've read similar advice on here thanks. But what about softs, looking at those LSN profiles for MA, seemed like they were excellent (intern for mayor, intern for senator, etc). I get nervous cuz I work in a sales job lol

i wouldn't worry about it. if you crush the LSAT, have a decent GPA, and write a great PS (which does not need to answer "why law?" but if you have absolutely zero legal or policy experience, just make sure an adcomms officer doesn't read your file and ask him/herself why you're applying to law school), schools won't care about your sales job. it seems like work experience is just a feather on the scale unless you work in something super prestigious that could tip the balance in your favor as a tiebreaker.
