Actually most Hispanics are white. I'm not asking how others see you, I'm asking how you yourself actually identify.Htexasguy wrote:If you looked at me you would think I am white, but my last name is from Portugal.A. Nony Mouse wrote:Are you? That is, how do you actually identify?

Well are you Brazilian or are you Portuguese? Where are your parents from? Lots of Hispanics not only look white but they are white. Doesn't mean a damn thing. People from Latin America come in all different colors.Htexasguy wrote:If you looked at me you would think I am white, but my last name is from Portugal.A. Nony Mouse wrote:Are you? Somebody quantified it a while back. I think it was the MyLSN.info guy. IIRC, compared to being a white person, being Mexican was worth 4 points, Puerto Rican or African American was worth 6 points, and Native American was worth 8 points.seashell.economy wrote:Really? Shockingly, the analysis got pulled after the shitstorm ensued.
ETA: Random Hispanic = No points.
And honestly, I've heard of that before but in reality it seems that Puerto Ricans receive much less of a boost than African Americans do. There's unfortunately a lot of conflicting info on this subject.seashell.economy wrote:Ok, so not as dramatic of a point difference as stated.MarkinKansasCity wrote:Somebody quantified it a while back.
