Medians dont matter for a URM at a T6. A URM at Columbia's medians might be getting into Hammy range. Get your offer then ask COlumbia/NYU to match that. But then again why? Im guessing full need aid would be about 120k

Full need aid would still put total COA of attending any YHS at over 160K...Once you take into account interest + increases in tuition/COL, shit starts adding up.
For 15-16, full need aid at H would result in a grant of $37500. At Yale, you'd get $35017. Stanford hasn't released their awards yet.
So yeah, easy to turn down a Butler or similar at CCN but maybe too steep a cost to turn down a fully elsewhere in the T14.

Jeez... fair enough. But a full tuition scholly still leaves you with 90k in COL and interest in NY.
90k vs 160k... 70k is alot but i think it really depends on your goals. I think if you want transactional biglaw or IP theres an argument for the t6, but if you want litigation/govt/clerkship/academia its YHS.
But I wouldnt go down further than a T6.

Thanks for everyone's input. Follow-up question.
Would I be able to negotiate a T6 full ride when I have full need-based at T3 (that roughly covers 50% of total expenses)? Or is that too ambitious and stretching the worth of a T3 acceptance? Thanks again.
You should try. But plenty of people (most people?) who have T3 acceptances (particularly H) don't get a full-ride at CCN so your best bet might be a lower T14 full-ride like Jim Jones said.

I guess I'm wondering why you're so eager to go to CCN when you have full need-based aid (at least $35k) from YSH. I think your best shot in negotiating would be to get up to something in the same ballpark as your need aid (I think your only chance at more than that would be NYU). But, why in the world would you take, say, Columbia over Harvard at equal cost? If you have Y/S it's even harder to understand.

I think OP would agree with you. Seems like OP wants a CCN full-ride or close to it to turn down ~35K/year @ YHS.

This exactly. I wouldn't be turning down YHS for anything less than a full ride (or very close) from CCN. If I can't get a significantly higher package from CCN, I would just take YHS need-based.

Oops. Reading is fundamental, sorry. My thoughts with respect to NYU being your best chance at negotiating I still stand by.
But at the same time, my unsolicited advice is take your T3 w $$$ and run.
