I just found out my score for the september lsat and I got 2 points lower than what I normally scoring on the practice test. I got a 156. My GPA is 3.6 and I have a strong resume with mock trial awards, scholar awards, and a lot of research. As well as a ton of leadership roles. Should I retake the LSAT because I though that I would at least score a 158. Since I am a senior now. I would probably take a year off to study and take it again. Is this worth it?

Also, i am african american

Yes. Absolutely. If you can get into the mid 160s, I'm sure you'll have most of the T-14s with probably cash. If you can get higher than that, the sky's the limit (I'm talking about Harvard, Yale, Stanford). Is it worth it to take a year off to retake once or possibly twice to get into Harvard, Yale, or Stanford? Hell yes.

Thank you. But I've seen statistics that most people don't improve by more than 2 points when they take the test again. Have you heard of people jumping by 10 points?

Yes. The LSAT is a very learnable test and there are so many good resources out there to help your prep. Head over to the LSAT Prep forum and you'll see that some people study for months and months. But 10 points now = literally tens of thousands of dollars of debt not hanging over your head. So it's worth it to invest the time and effort now. Retake the test when you are ready (when your practice test average is in the high 160s/low 170s range) and good luck!
