Hey guys, I have really strong softs. I'm a gov. major (I'm lower mid class

btw ). Plz no retaking comments. I've seen them too much on here. What are my chances at Harvard, Columbia, Stanford?

Looking at LSN's URMs from last year, I'd say...
Out at Standford
WL/Out at Harvard
WL at Columbia
The correct answer is the one you don't want to hear, though.

Its unfathomable to me that a URM with your GPA wouldn't retake. Your possibilities are literally limitless with 8-10 point increase. You're in so much of a better position than the rest of us. But whatever.

I guess you'll have a shot at HYS with that gpa and LSAT combo but 2/3 more points on the LSAT makes H more likely. Get a 165+ and you'll be getting $$$ from various t-14 schools and H will be a lock. YS still in the air.

+1 to this too. You don't even need the 8-10 pts, more like 3-5 pts. URMs with GPA's like yours shouldn't settle for an LSAT that won't get them into HYS or a full scholarship at a t-13.

FWIW...
On LSN Stanford didn't admit a single person with an LSAT under 166 (URM Included)

UGHHH fine i'll consider retaking. Juss so yall know I know someone that got into UPenn w/ a 158 and a 3.5. And I do see ppl on lsn whose gotten into Harvard w/ lower stats. Is it really that inconceivable for me to juss settle?? Plus I've already gotten a 158 on the LSAT i took prior to this one.

Don't compare yourself to others. You do you.
Sure a 158 3.5 might get you into UPenn, that cool. But you know what's even cooler? Getting into UPenn with a Levy. That student that go into Penn with those numbers might be paying sticker or close to it.
Congrats on the improvement btw. If you improved once already then maybe you can do it again. Your GPA puts you at an advantage where sure admissions is likely but why settle for just an admissions offer? Make them pay you to go to their school.

Please retake. You can save over $150,000 on going to a lower T14 or Vandy/Texas/UCLA or you can give yourself a better chance to get into HYS if that is your ultimate. Just prepare and if you did not take a class, I would definitely take a class or an online class. You can improve significantly using the Powerscore books but I think taking a class is worth the money.

Dude, I'm at Penn now. If I were doing this again, I would consider staying out and reapplying with a higher LSAT. Sure, you'll probably get into a couple t14s, even with a little money. But I am pretty sure that whoever you know at Penn with a 158 is gonna graduate with at least 150K in non dischargeable student loan debt. With your GPA this doesn't have to be your life. Just retake.
