I've been watching this cycle very closely and was set to apply next fall, but now I'm worried that my K-JD status will be detrimental for Harvard and Stanford.

Do any of you have any insight into this? Would working as a paralegal or something in the legal field really boost my chances by a non-negligible amount?

Academic success doesn't always translate to professional success. Admissions committees would be foolish to not give bonus points to otherwise similar candidates who have superior success working.

Yeah Apple, I've lurked your cycle from start to finish and you've murdered it haha.

I don't want NU at all, I just wanted to decide on the gap-year before I enter my senior year and wasn't sure how many of the applicants I've been following closely have been K-JDs.

I don't think it'll matter. Your, LSAT, GPA, and your reasons for wanting to attend will be much more important.

Good WE can't hurt, but it's not like plenty of K-JDs don't get into HYS every year.

People will just talk out of their ass based on personal biases and perception. You will never get a % chance of admission or anything close to it. The only people qualified to make such a % determination would never comment here. Just look at the first few responses: one word. Complete certainty. Also, complete bullshit.

Any LSN profile, that I may or may not have control of, may or may not be corrected with full details at some point in the future
I will say I'm a special snowflake and my admission results are not going to be very applicable to most people.

Apply early, friend.

OP just concentrate on making your application as strong as possible. And if you get a Js1 and get asked the inevitable "why LS now" or "why not take a break" make sure you have a mature response. Unless you have no softs and no internship/ summer work experience, being k-JD shouldn't affect your cycle too bad if at all.

Also that. I applied in early October and it definitely helped.

2L at Stanford, myself and many of my URM classmates are k-jd. From what I've seen, it seems like k-jd in itself does not hurt you, but WE can help overcome deficiencies that may exist in a straight k-jd application (i.e., low gpa, etc.).

Plenty of K-JDs turn out fine, but Jesus, going all-in on "becoming a lawyer" before you've ever really experienced the grind of open-ended full time employment is... I dunno, crazy.

Agreed. If I could do it over, I would definitely have taken time off.

If anything, K-JD would be more of a relative detriment to OCI, rather than law school admissions. Look, I'd rather be in a situation where I'm compared to another person who has similar numbers when it comes to getting into So-and-so School of Law as opposed to interviewing for one spot at V-whatever firm against some guy with the same numbers, but also worked as a consultant or at Big4 Accounting or whatever.
