I graduated from a Texas school with a 3.17 but I took college classes in high school that didn't go so well. I have work experience (senator, non-profit, abroad). I have two strong recs. I have taken the lsat twice, once a 160 and the second time a 167. But I am applying pretty late in the cycle.
What are my chances?

Depends on where you are applying. Can't speak for MA, but as an LGBT white male with 168/2.81 I've gotten Texas, WUSTL, W&L, and a few others so far. Texas, especially if you are from here, rpobably isn't too much of a stretch. There's no data for less than 168 LSAT in regards to splitters, but it seems that 167 is the LSAT hardline thus far, so you should be fine.

Hey thanks. UT is actually my top choice. I also applied to GW, WUSTL, USC, UCLA, Vandy, Georgetown among others.
Do you think asking to send a Why Texas? without being prompted to is a good idea?

I think if you are in state it isn't an issue, it seems to be more popular for OOS people. I don't think it would hurt but don't think it would be necessary at all.

Wait a second, is being LGBT considered a URM? How much does this help?
I'm hispanic (not Mexican or Puerto Rican) but I mentioned being gay and coming out. My reach school was GW.
Got 30,000 at Temple though.
Stats are 3.28 and 161

Being LGTBQ does not give you a URM boos if that's what you are wondering.

LGBTQ does not give a boost like being an URM does, but it could still give a boost for diversity. It's a subjective boost though, so there's no telling how much it helps, if at all. I'm sure it's much less than the URM boost though because URM numbers are reported, LGBTQ numbers are not.

Well, more relevant to your topic, I applied to Temple the first week of February with a 3.28 and a 161. Not a URM though hispanic and LGBT. I got in with a 30k a year scholly. You should do well.
If I were you, I'd apply to GW. I hear they're very LGBT friendly, I imagine they'd love to have you.

Thank you. Funny you should say, I applied to GW with a diversity statement on being both LGBT and a POC and I got an acceptance after only 8 days. My first acceptance!

Although, legacy through my father probably helped.

If I had to guess... it was the 167.
