Top Law Schools

Most of the AA's on LSN that gain admission to Berkeley and Stanford are either female, ivy, or both. What numbers are required for an AA male from a public school? I realize that the sample size is extremely small, but in your opinion, what does it take for the best NorCal has to offer?

3.5+/165+ generally does the trick for every school but Yale for AA males.

The higher either of those numbers the better, obviously.

Some more specifics -

Berkeley: higher GPA is preferred

Stanford: LSAT heavy + URM softs seem to matter more

This doesn't seem true for urms. There seems to be a noticeable boost for Ivy urms on law school numbers. However, it could be because of super softs. It's hard to say.

I mean that soft factors (same ones non-URMs have) seem to play more of a role in URM admissions. Numbers are still by far the biggest factors but softs seem a play a slightly larger role.

Not sure about Stanford being LSAT heavy, but they are all about softs for URMs. From participating in SEO, I've realized that there isn't that much overlap for black male Harvard and Stamford admits. I would say Harvard is more numbers based. Also, I think there's an interesting aspect to AA ivy plus undergrads going to top schools. I think certain schools give a boost, but other schools, like Harvard, don't care. Most Harvard AAs seem to come from non competitive undergrads. That's probably because they are more likely to have a higher GPA.

Can you speak more on this. What type of softs do SLS seem to love from URMs? Awards? Work experience? LORs? Also, any insight on how liberal art colleges are viewed by YHS??

How do urms from HBCUs fair compared to public school urms? Is there any real difference?
