That's ludicrous - you should definitely retake. Dutifully study for a few months and bring that LSAT score up, preferably 165+. Your GPA is pretty low and so is that 155. You may have a chance at Cornell, but the odds aren't stacked in your favor, especially because schools seem to give more of a boost to AA males with lower LSAT scores than they do for AA females. Here's a prediction of your chances now:

And here's if you score 163-165:

ETA: Getting a 165+ would give you a slightly better chance at being accepted into the T-14 (and even more, possibly getting accepted with some scholly $$). It's definitely worth retaking.

retake. Unless you have some ridiculous soft, you have no chance at Cornell or Duke as you stand now. If you don't break 160 then you need to sit out until you get a third chance, re-evaluate if law school is right for you, or be prepared to attend a mediocre school at sticker.

Do not toss away the AA boost with your 155. 167+ may give you a shot at Harvard, you are right at their GPA floor. As it stands now, you shouldn't expect to get in any T30. I imagine you will be around 45-50 in the school range, and even then I forsee sticker.

You should retake until you have an official score that reflects your max potential.

This is very thorough and much appreciated. I am definitely going to retake after reviewing this!

Thanks for this advice! I think I was in denial that I could even attempt to break T25 with my numbers. I am going to keep trying because I will NOT be paying sticker price for law school, especially not anything outside of the T14 range.

This. Retake for 165+.

I got into a T30 with a scholarship and had a test score LOWER than your 149. Granted, my gpa is higher. If you could get a 165, you would be T25 with scholarships, probably even T14. You would be foolish not to retake. And Kaplan sucks, btw.
