Chances are slim, but if you can get a 162+ your chances increase significantly.gurlja18 wrote:Hi everyone,
just got my June score back. went up from a 153 to 157. Contemplatin retake in October to hit my 160+ goal but should I still apply once the cycle begins or wait till after I receive my October score?
Also, my goal is to get in to T-14. what are my chances as of now?
You should probably wait to apply until you get your October score. Just make sure you have your app ready to go as soon as scores come out. Doing so would be considered perfectly on time.gurlja18 wrote:Hi everyone,

I'm also a URM with similar numbers before I retook this past June, and the best I was able to get was GW with $. Good luck
At the end of the day only the highest score is reported so I doubt it will matter much. Maybe if it comes down to you and another similar candidate.gurlja18 wrote:Kool-Aid wrote:Chances are slim, but if you can get a 162+ your chances increase significantly.gurlja18 wrote:Hi everyone,

Maybe GW, Bama, Emory, OSU? go to myLSN.infogurlja18 wrote:Thanks everyone for responses.
But I don't think I will be able to retake. I'll be moving to another state for a year to tutor children and I'll be working 10 hour days. It just doesnt seem feasable. My softs are decent. WHat schools can I possibly get into with my current stats?
thanks

What schools are you considering?
Lower 1st tier and upper second tier should be your targets .
Schools with medians of 157 and below are safeties.
Apply to as many reach schools as you can and hope for the best.
this seems to make more sense. unlikely, yes but I believe I can get at leasted waitlisted at a couple of these schools. thank you!AAJD2B wrote:http://mylsn.info/l4dnp9
You should focus on:
UPenn
Cornell
Northwestern (especially if you have work experience)
UMichigan
Vandy
USC
Really market your UPenn app. They have accepted a few 155s in the past with similar GPAs.

I have always seen that applying late doesn't hurt URM's much, because most schools want to see the entire URM applicant pool before making decisions. It seems this doesn't apply to the URM's that have auto admit numbers, however.Psib337 wrote:Retake, I had a similar GPA to yours and retook a third time for a 163 and I got waitlisted at a few T-14 schools and eventually got in off the waitlist of one (I really liked it so I withdrew from the others before I heard anything else). As far as I can tell applying late hurt me more than taking the LSAT 3 times (but it definitely would've hurt me to apply with two 15x scores).
I also agree with shooting for 180. I never came anywhere close to there but but when I was just shooting for 165 I got into a bad habit of going, "It's OK, I can get this one wrong and still be fine."
Yeah but if you decide to take in October, just wait until you get your new score to apply.gurlja18 wrote:John_rizzy_rawls wrote:You've got to retake. Your GPA isn't bad and 165+ puts everywhere except Yale in play for you.
I'm definitely reconsidering. If I do, can I still submit my apps and let schools know I'm retaking?
