My GPA is a 3.68 and I am scoring in the 167 area on my practice exams. I am an AA male. What is the minimum LSAT that I could get in order to have a decent chance at Harvard?

The 3.5+/165+ GPA/LSAT combination is magical for AA males. It should will probably get you one of HYS barring any glaring application problems.

Is that LSAT range the same for AA females? I currently have 3.8 GPA.

Yeah, both AA males and females have been a lock for at least one school in HYS with 3.5+/165+ as Hank Bashir pointed out.

I really hope you get that score or higher OP. Best of luck!

So Yale is the same as Harvard? I thought that Yale didn't care about URMs because not a whole lot of us tend to get in from what I can see.

yls is different from harvard, as it is less predictable. Those numbers should be okay for yale, but aa males with better numbers got rejected while ones with worse numbers got accepted. it's super confusing lol.

Yale is...Yale. If you get an LSAT of 165+, you may get in, might be waitlisted, or even rejected. As the poster above me pointed out, Yale's process is both confusing and unpredictable.

Harvard is almost a lock at 3.5+/165+ AA.

Stanford is very likely with those numbers, and some decent softs

Yale is insanely unpredictable. Just this cycle and last, a 168/3.5 AA got into Yale while a 172/3.85 AA was waitlisted. So...

In any case, you're in a great way with those numbers. Congrats.

They really couldn't be more different. I'd say get above at or above 165 and you'll get at least one of HYS. It could be all three could be just one. Good luck on the LSAT!

To JRR's point about our 3.5+/165+ crowd: I think lock is too strong for H. GW, Hank, and PRGradBYU all got an H WL. But each of the three got at least S and GW got Y and S. So I think lock for one of HYS is right, but wouldn't call a specific one a lock.

If you hit 167 on your actual LSAT, you're a lock for H and/or S (although as others ITT have indicated, you can score as low as 164 and still have a decent shot). Just shoot for the stars. Good luck!

Speaking as the one AA male who didn't get HYS with the numbers you described, I wouldn't call it a lock. As others have mentioned, some people have gotten into H and S with those numbers, but they often don't get at least one of HYS. I have a few friends who were WL'd at Harvard with 3.5+/167+ last year. Most ended up getting in there and elsewhere (I have a few friends at SLS with numbers like this), so it's not like they did poorly. But they weren't auto-admits as someone else suggested.

I think his chances will be excellent if he gets 167+ on the LSAT. No one can tell for sure-- OP's results will depend a lot on the application package he presents. It can't hurt that applications are down again this year, though.

Yeah, I hesitate calling anything with HYS admissions a sure thing.

Apply early (IIRC, GW, PRgrad, and I all applied early to mid January) and make sure to put together a good application package.

Also, granted everything goes well as far as LSAT. Since I know that I would accept Harvard over anything (besides Yale), should I ED? I hear a lot of people saying not to, but I don't understand why...

Harvard doesn't have an ED option. And shame on you for wanting Yale over Harvard. lol

Amc987, just made the 30 rock connection, so you're MyWayTilPayday right? You had a great cycle but not sure why you didn't nab HYS as an AA male.

So yeah, I guess that threshold isn't a lock but close to it.

Haha, you figured me out. MyWayTilPayday is my LSN profile. I'm not sure why I didn't snag HYS either given some of the other people who were admitted, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I think OP can definitely get into top 3 schools with a 167+ LSAT score. I just wouldn't want him to count acceptances before they come and end up disappointed.
